There will be an early giveaway of my upcoming book, Cold Barrel Zero, at Bouchercon in Raleigh. Swing by the Mulholland hospitality suite Saturday morning at 7:30 to snag a copy. It’s a killer line-up of authors.
And stay tuned. More news and giveaways coming up in the fall.

Check out Michael Koryta‘s new thriller, Last Words. Haven’t gotten my hands on it yet but his previous one, Those Who Wish Me Dead, was unbelievably good.
And his playlist for the book includes happens to include a couple songs from my brother’s band, The Cave Singers. Small world!

I signed up to be kidnapped and hunted down in LA as research for my next book. The story is in Pacific Standard: http://ow.ly/GPGT2
The team from yesterday’s terrific foot surveillance training at BCon. Thanks RT Lawton!
I’m at Bouchercon in Long Beach, CA! I’ll be on a panel about thrillers and technology (3pm today, Regency B) then signing (4pm Regency EF).
And tomorrow morning 10am-noon I’ll be hanging out in the hospitality suite sponsored by Mullholland Books and doing handcuff picking demos (Seaview Rotunda)
Tune in to PBS NewsHour tonight for my interview with Jeffrey Brown about The Directive and The Fed. And welcome NewsHour viewers!
Shimming handcuffs with improvised tools:
The course culminated in a field training exercise where we were kidnapped and had to escape and then evade trained trackers as they chased us through LA. I’ll have an article coming out on the course in Pacific Standard Magazine and more photos soon.
Great item by Ralph Benko at Forbes about The Directive and Fed transparency. http://ow.ly/zXtQi.
